Sponsorship for Education

Poverty and education share a strong link. Education plays the central role in escaping generational poverty. It’s been estimated that for every year a child stays in school, their future earning potential increases by 10-20 percent. Unfortunately, many families in poverty consider education a luxury and even those who value it can find it difficult to afford. Some send their children to school for a few years and then pull them out so that they can help supplement the income of the family through child labour. Whichever way we look at it, it is a vicious cycle. Aawaaz sees its child sponsors as those who break this vicious cycle and help to not only build a childs future but reduce illiteracy for generations to come.

We are grateful for the sponsors of the 11 children that Aawaaz was able to connect them to. Some of these children are HIV positive and while they have many health risks, we are thankful for those who cared enough to give them a childhood and the right to education.
